Embellish Your Life
Internationally successful print designer Jess Halford and published knitwear designer Becky Dodman have established ‘Jess&Becky’ to offer an exciting programme of high quality textile workshops.
Jess and Becky have 10 years industry and lecturing experience both with careers in developing and producing high quality textiles for the print and constructed textile industries.
Jess has worked as a freelance print designer for international agencies selling trend-focused patterns to the fashion and homeware market. Alongside this she has developed her own personal work at Studio 102 and participated in numerous in-house exhibitions including engagement with Plymouth Art Weekender. Her label, Studio Jeshika, continues to explore mark-making through various creative disciplines including digital and screen fabric printing.
Becky has extensive teaching experience across a variety of academic levels, and currently lectures part-time on a BA Hons Textiles Practices degree programme. She has taught fashion and textile students the necessary practical and theoretical skills to ready them for our craft, fashion and textile industries. Her personal knitwear and textile practice has been supported by Arts Council England and she produces regular textile collections for fashion, accessory, and interior markets. She has been featured in Vice Magazine, Simply Knitting, The Sunday Times, Devon Life, Tribe Magazine, The Herald, and numerous blogs.
Both ‘Jess&Becky’ are passionate about developing student’s confidence in their own individual skills, facilitating the exploration of experimental processes, sharing ideas, and encouraging new ways of designing, making and creating.
Their passion for materials and experimental processes have led them to establish a series of workshops which allows you to learn, or further explore, textile processes through innovative projects. During the workshops you will be encouraged to work in a free-and-easy, but productive way, exploring key ‘make’ skills, while given the freedom and confidence to create samples, and items that have your own creative ‘stamp’ on them.
